Switching to biofibre in all products

All our Dextron ropes are now manufactured with bio-based Dyneema fibre. The material is ISCC certified and sustainable with a significantly reduced CO2 footprint.

For more than two years, OTS has offered our customers ropes produced from bio-based Dyneema for the offshore and marine industry as an alternative to limit the CO2 footprint from the production of the ropes.

Some customers have seen this benefit and have chosen bio-based fibre rope in their products. However, the transition takes time. We have therefore decided to act and switch to bio-based fibre in all our Dyneema ropes.

A greener choice

"- We do this in line with our commitment to a more sustainable and green future", says CEO of OTS, Stein Frode Bulling-Ness.

The material is ISCC certified and sustainable, and the fibre technology used is obtained from renewable, bio-based raw materials. This results in a CO2 footprint reduction of at least 60% compared to standard Dyneema, and 90% compared to generic HMPE fibres.

Dyneema, the world’s strongest fibre, is respected as the premium brand for Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMwPE). OTS manufacture and sells products based on Dyneema fibre in several forms.

Chooses bio-based rope

"– We choose Dextron and Bio-based Dyneema because the quality is so good that both durability and longevity meet our needs without compromising the environment. For us, it is important to contribute with as small a CO2 footprint as possible - therefore the choice of spare parts is also considered based on environmental consequences", says Morten Nielsen, Subsea TA – Offloading System.
